Team Taylor: Deb Di Virgilio

At Taylor Made Sales, we believe the heart of technology lies not in the shiny gadgets or cutting-edge software, but in the passionate people behind them. Each month, we peel back the curtain to reveal both the professional journeys and personal quirks of our talented team.

Your Career Journey

Let's start with your professional story!

Can you tell us a bit about your career journey?

My career kicked off at Telstra after university, where I explored various sales, development, and executive assistant roles before becoming National Sales and Marketing Manager. Life took an entrepreneurial turn when I ran a franchise business for 14 years while raising my children. Motherhood is an intense and fun masterclass in juggling priorities and wearing multiple hats!

The years that followed saw me embrace various operations management positions, each adding new skills to my professional toolkit. Today, I thrive as a virtual admin for diverse businesses, applying my breadth of experience while enjoying the flexibility and variety this role brings. Each client presents unique challenges, keeping my work fresh and engaging.

What led you to Taylor Made Sales?

Leanne's electric personality and passion for what she does was simply magnetic! When you encounter someone who radiates such genuine enthusiasm for their work, it's hard not to be drawn in. Her energy is contagious, and I immediately wanted to be part of the Taylor Made story—where work feels less like a job and more like a collaborative adventure.

What's the most rewarding part of your work?

Working alongside Leanne while supporting amazing businesses brings me the greatest satisfaction. There's something energising about being part of a team that genuinely makes a difference for our clients. Seeing how our support helps businesses streamline operations and achieve their goals creates a sense of purpose that makes even challenging days worthwhile.

If you could give career advice to your younger self, what would it be?

Follow your curiosity and say yes to new experiences. My most rewarding career moments came from stepping outside my comfort zone and embracing unplanned opportunities. Don't get too attached to a rigid career roadmap; instead, build a diverse skill set that serves you across multiple roles. It's never too late to pivot to something completely different!

Beyond the Job—Let's Get Personal!

A little fun to get to know you better!

If my life were a movie or TV show, it would be...

Eat Pray Love. 🧘‍♀️ Adventure, self-discovery, and great food! My life has been about embracing change, seeking meaning, and savouring experiences that nourish both body and soul.

If I could launch my own business tomorrow, it would be...

An online store selling designer silk caftan jackets. I've always loved fashion that combines comfort with sophistication. There's something magical about a garment that makes you feel put-together yet relaxed, suitable for both a casual lunch and an evening event with just a change of accessories. Let there be more versatile pieces that celebrate women of all ages and sizes!

My go-to pump-up song before a big meeting is...

Don't Stop Me Now by Queen! 🎶 There's nothing like Freddie Mercury's powerful vocals to boost confidence before walking into an important meeting. The lyrics about having a good time and being unstoppable perfectly capture the mindset needed for any challenge.

If my life had a tagline, it would be...

Just do it. (Because why wait?) Life is too short for hesitation and overthinking. Action beats perfection every time, and that we usually regret the chances not taken rather than the mistakes made. Trust your instincts and embrace a little unexpected uncertainty!

Coffee, tea, or something stronger? (Bonus: How do you take it?)

My morning ritual always begins with a strong cuppa. As evening arrives, I'm not opposed to switching to something with a bit more kick. A well-crafted spicy margarita with fresh lime juice, good tequila, and just the right amount of heat makes for the perfect wind-down.🍹

If we had a Taylor Made Sales talent show, my hidden talent would be...

Doing a spiritual card reading—intuition is everything! I've developed quite a knack for readings that offer insightful perspectives. It's less about predicting the future and more about helping others tune into their own inner wisdom—a skill that's surprisingly relevant in business too!

Reflections on Your Career

Your take on work, growth, and the future!

What's a memorable moment in your career that stands out?

The freedom I have now stands out as my career's most memorable achievement. After years in structured environments and the demands of business ownership, there's something particularly sweet about working with diverse, interesting clients while helping them streamline operations.

I've created a working life that truly suits me rather than fitting into predetermined roles and that's worth celebrating!

What's one thing you've learned in your career that you wish more people knew?

Be kind—it goes further than you think. I've seen how a thoughtful word, a moment of genuine appreciation, or going the extra mile creates ripple effects that extend far beyond that initial interaction. Kindness builds stronger teams, fosters loyalty, opens doors, and creates workplaces where people genuinely want to contribute their best.

If Taylor Made Sales had an official playlist, which song must be on it?

We Are the Champions—an anthem for success! This Queen classic captures the perseverance, triumph, and celebration that characterise the Taylor Made Sales approach. Plus, it's impossible not to feel motivated when that chorus kicks in!

Imagine it's 2035—what does a day in the life of a tech professional look like?

In 2035, AI handles the mundane, freeing tech professionals to focus on creativity, strategy, and innovation. Mornings start with an AI-curated briefing, followed by immersive virtual collaboration with global teams. Traditional offices are replaced with flexible spaces—quiet zones for deep work, creative studios for brainstorming, and social hubs for connection.

Workdays are shorter but more productive, with automation eliminating routine tasks. Most importantly, technology enhances work-life balance, allowing professionals to excel without burnout. The future isn’t just about smarter tech—it’s about a smarter way to work and live.
